Interview with Alex Austin
The following is an interview with At One Yoga teacher Alex Austin:
Q: Tell us some of your career highlights...
Alex: I began my "career" wanting to be an Actor - which meant I was
bussing tables. Eventually, I ended up in NYC running a hip celebrity
Lounge hang-out in SoHo. NYC led me back to my Home Town of
Boston to run a few restaurant lounges there. When the long hours of
night-life became my only life I took some time off wrote some poetry and packed up for Los Angles. In LA I trained a bit in Holistic Massage
and that lead me to Maui where I studied Personal Training. Maui
brought me to Arizona and At One Yoga.
Q: How did your experience as a Personal Trainer make you a better yoga teacher?
Alex: My fitness knowledge gives my class a broader scope,
an edge; where I am constantly thinking about how a student
can tone, lose weight, gain flexibility - If a student has a goal
I will find a way to get them there.
Q: Describe your yoga class
A: I use the asana practice to achieve a full body workout. The breath leads the muscles on a journey - toning, lengthening, re-charging the body and the mind.
Q: Why would somebody want to experience your class?
Alex: My class brings Yoga and Fitness into harmony. Add great music,
a dash of philosophy and your day is complete.
Alex teaches Basics, Core Conditioning and Flow classes 6 days a week at both Grayhawk and Scottsdale. |
